In just a few hours, we’ll be ushering in a new year and a new decade. While I appear to be in the minority (at least according to recent friends’ Facebook posts), I am a little sad to see 2009 go. After some reflection this week, I realize it was pretty much a banner year for yours truly… finished the thesis, earned my master’s, was accepted into some top doctoral programs, got engaged to the most wonderful man on earth (seriously!), kicked ass on my first semester of PhD school. Granted, there were some sad things, too, but in all, the year was pretty fantastic. (Of course, now that I think about it, it was a year with a crap ton of masochistic workloads and deadlines. I’d be happier if 2010-2012 weren’t packed the same way. Maybe I’m really ready to usher in May 2012??)
Despite my pleasing 2009, I’m happy to start the new year fresh. I’m polishing up my 2010 resolution spreadsheet (up to 39 goals so far) and will begin kicking butt on those things tomorrow. (Stay tuned for some random resolution-inspired blog posts!) New additions to the list: cultivate patience, try recipes with quinoa, stay on budget with the wedding (ha. ha. ha.).
Happy New Year to you and yours, and please dear Lord, stay safe tonight. It’s a full moon and the crazies are out in full force!
P/S For those of you who read my confessions of a horrible dog-mommy post, Goliath is doing fine. When he’s not in pain anymore, I’ll post some seriously funny-looking photos of his mug. He definitely lives up to the nickname “Old Man Dog” now! Poor dude.
