Black Friday is for decorating!

While many of my retail-crazy friends arose at the crack-o-dawn to catch screamin’ deals on Black Friday*, I connected with my inner Christmas crazy. Although my decorations only span the public** viewing areas of the house, they are extensive. Stockings, garlands, bulbs, candles, pine cones, poinsettias. Bells, nutcrackers, reindeer, Santas, snowmen, angels. I’m a litttttttle into this Christmas thing you might say.

Although decorations and presents are awfully fun, it’s not the commercialism that gets me. It’s the joy. The colors and glitter and wishes and lights just thrill me! Seeing people open thoughtful gifts and smile makes me happy. Cooking good food and visiting and celebrating warms my heart. I love traditions like Christmas waffles and White Elephants and Christmas Eve Eve. More than that, I appreciate a reason to purposefully celebrate love, joy, kindness, compassion, and giving. I wonder what the world would be like if we did that all year long?!

An interesting question, but I must quit pondering it and go back to my homework. Alas.

xoxo!

* Confession: I actually spent Black Friday cleaning and putting away wedding crap. But it was in preparation for decorating!!
** If I were like my dear friend Patrice, I might decorate bedrooms and private bathrooms, too! Her kiddos even have mini-Christmas trees in their rooms! (Some day my friend, some day!)
